Artist Statement
My recent artistic journey is rooted in a fascination with the expressive power of the element of art - line. A vehicle I like to describe as one that expresses connectivity and continuity in the midst of change.Through the interplay of organic movement, colour, and form, I explore the transient nature of the human experience and our deep interconnectedness with Creation of which a great part, we humans make up. I employ objects of cultural symbolism like the wrapper and gallon - to serve as a conduit for the themes I express. The journey towards self-realisation brought me to this point - a marriage between ‘wrappers’ and ‘gallons’ under the gaze of the symbolic sun as a witness.Through my pieces, I strive to invite the viewer on a journey of personal growth, encouraging them to delve into self realisation and embrace the gift of consciousness. Ultimately, I aim to capture the essence of African art hermeneutics, offering a nuanced perspective on what it means to be human - a prodigy of influence, in possession of fleeting bodies with non-fleeting souls. Hence, the story behind the gyrating lines.
